![]() Second Day of Atlantic 10 Championships Comes to a Close
Feb. 19, 2009 Buffalo, NY - The La Salle men's and women's swimming & diving team completed the second day of the Atlantic 10 Championships on Thursday. Freshman Emily Heath finished with third place honors in the 500-yard freestyle's A-Championship with a preliminary time of 4:56.71 and a finals time of 4:57.27. Like Heath, junior Shannon Duval placed in the A-Championship in her respective event. Duval finished in eighth place in the 200-yard IM with a 2:07.78 preliminary time and a 2:06.71 finals time. Also making it to the A-Championship, sophomore Holly Biro picked up seventh place honors in the 50-yard freestyle. Biro rounded out preliminaries with a 23.68 time and finals with a 23.70 time. Her time set a new school record. For the men, both senior David Ellerson and freshman Austin Thomas finished in the B-Consolations on Thursday. Ellerson finished 15th in the 200-yard IM and Thomas placed 10th in the 50-yard freestyle. Freshman Jordan Baker placed seventh in the 1-meter diving event's A-Championship. Baker picked up a preliminary score of 236.75 and a finals score of 231.15. Freshman Leslie McGann followed up in 12th in the 1-meter diving event. Biro, senior Carleen Caldwell and sophomores Jessica Carbin and Aubrey Cefalo provided the Explorers with a fourth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.54. Their time in the 200-yard freestyle relay was the second school record for La Salle on Thursday. The Explorers are back in action on Friday as they prepare for the third day of the Atlantic 10 Championships.
