![]() Explorer Women Clipped by Duquesne, 115-108
Jan. 26, 2008 In a tightly contested battle on Saturday afternoon at Kirk Pool, the La Salle University women's swimming and diving team fell to Duquesne, 115-108. Carleen Caldwell, Dana Reis and Shannon Duval all earned first-place finishes for the Explorers. The Blue and Gold opened the day by claiming a win in the 400-yard medley relay. Two events later, Caldwell took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.62). The junior would later place second in the 100-yard freestyle. Dana Reis came away with a win in the 500-yard freestyle. She added a second place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, while sister Megan Reis placed third in the event. Shannon Duval took first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.07) after finishing second in the 200-yard IM earlier in the day. Freshmen Holly Biro and Jessica Carbin earned second-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard back, respectively. It was the final home meet for seniors Katie Gifford and Jaclyn Kubala who were honored in a pre-meet ceremony. La Salle closes out the regular season next Saturday at Drexel. The meet gets underway at 1:00 PM.
