Larry Connell took over the La Salle Crew Program in August 2004, and prior to his position here, he was a full-time assistant coach at the University of Penn from 1984-2003. At Penn, he had a hand in helping the program win multiple Eastern Sprint and IRA Championships.

Prior to his experience at Penn he spent five years as an assistant at Rutgers University. His last head-coaching job was at Holy Spirit High School in N.J. (1977-79), where he led one of the largest and most successful high school rowing programs in the country.

Connell brings some international experience to La Salle. He was co-coach of the 1982 silver medalist F.I.S.A. Jr. World Championship team in Piedolouco, Italy. In 1983 and 1984, he co-coached the U.S. Jr. World men's eight in Vichy, France and Jonokopong, Sweden. Connell also coached several crews at the Henley Royal Regatta.
