PHILADELPHIA, PA- The Principal of Logan Elementary, Mark Wilicki, asked La Salle University's very own Tim Miller to give a motivational speech to the parents and teachers of Logan Elementary about the importance of PSSA testing.
"The annual Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) is to assess student's proficiency in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening and Mathematics. Every Pennsylvania student in grades 3 through 8 and grade 11 is assessed in reading and math. Every Pennsylvania student in grades 5, 8 and 11 is assessed in writing. Individual student scores, provided only to their respective schools, can be used to assist teachers in identifying students who may be in need of additional educational opportunities, and school scores provide information to schools and districts for curriculum and instruction improvement discussions and planning."*
Given his experience as a teacher and as an enthusiastic coach, Mark felt he would be a great candidate to help inspire the significance of this standardized test.
